carolyn lloyd-davies
Prior to training as an actor at ALRA drama school, Carolyn was a teacher and then a management consultant. Following this, she wrote numerous scripts and one act plays for corporate theatre and in May 2015, her first full length play, 'Silent on the Matter', was produced at The Old Fire Station, Oxford. This was followed by a commission to write two short screenplays.
In 2016 her play ‘Birds of Prey’ (written in collaboration with Stephanie Connell and based on her true story) was selected for a rehearsed reading at the Actors and Writers’ London Group (AWL).
A highlight of 2016/17 was becoming part of the Oxford Playhouse Playmaker programme, during which time she developed her third full length play ‘Gathering Lies’, guided by John Retallack.
Carolyn's debut radio play 'Retribution', has recently been chosen by The Write Hour, to be recorded as a podcast for release in summer 2019. Carolyn is particularly fascinated by the dilemmas, challenges and predicaments facing us in our rapidly changing, ageing and diverse society. She is currently working on her new play ‘#Penetration', inspired by seven stories of false allegations of rape, which is planned to be staged in London, in early 2020. A full length rehearsed reading will be shown on April 29th 2019 in London.
Carolyn runs playwriting courses and workshops for the older aspiring playwright and also produces new writing, under the auspices of Living the Drama.
